CNN —Capping off a weekend of photo finishes, Kyle Larson won NASCAR’s AdventHealth 400 by a staggering 0.001 seconds in Kansas on Sunday. The RFK team could be seen on the broadcast jubilantly celebrating before the official result was finalized. Eventually, Hendrick Motorsports’ Larson was declared winner in the closest finish in NASCAR Cup Series history, per NASCAR. “I didn’t know if I won or not, I was pumped for the finish,” Larson added as he explained his spotter said it was a second-place finish before celebrating wildly down the radio when he found out Larson had won. I haven’t seen a replay other than just a picture and I sure can’t see it in that picture,” a dejected Buescher told FS1.

The 13-year group, known as Brood XIX, or the Great Southern Brood, is the largest periodical cicada brood, stretching across the southeastern United States. The Northern Illinois Brood, or Brood XIII, emerges every 17 years. Periodical cicadas are smaller and mostly black, with bright red eyes and orange-tinged wings and legs. Billions of cicadas are expected this spring as two different broods — Broods XIX and XIII — emerge simultaneously. However, predictions of a cicadapocalypse — in which Brood XIII and Brood XIX show up at the same place at the same time — are probably an exaggeration.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — No one needs to remind Kyle Larson about his record at Daytona International Speedway. “It’s tougher today than it’s ever been,” three-time Daytona 500 winner and current Hendrick Motorsports vice chairman Jeff Gordon said. He's finished 18th or worse in half of his Daytona 500 starts. Truex doesn’t have a top-10 finish in the 500 since, but he did win the series championship the following year. Hall of Famers Tony Stewart, Rusty Wallace and Mark Martin are the most notable drivers to never win the Daytona 500.

Larson nearly lost control of his Arrow McLaren Chevrolet during a four-plus-hour test at Phoenix Raceway on Monday, but the NASCAR star and 2021 Cup Series champion managed to save his Indianapolis 500 ride from hitting the wall at 180 mph. “I went into Indy car turmoil, got a little bit loose into the corner, got to the apex. He also is scheduled to drive the NASCAR race, the Coca-Cola 600, in Charlotte, North Carolina, later that day. He will be back in a Cup car next week at Daytona International Speedway to prepare for the season-opening Daytona 500. “I don’t think they’re as far apart from each other as what the previous model NASCAR Cup Series car was like or what an Xfinity car might be like,” he said.

“The only time I use my grill that’s outside on my deck is for my Super Bowl party,” said Steward, in an interview with CNN. Tricks to manage the costThis year is the 26th year that San Francisco resident Amy Larson and her husband are throwing their Super Bowl party. “Super Bowl every year is my excuse to make him tailgating food, in particular hot wings,” she said. Over the years, Larson has perfected a few tricks to manage her Super Bowl food budget. “I also usually buy spirits and other drinks but I’m not sure about that either because of the higher prices,” Steward said.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Kyle Larson looked like a natural turning his first laps in an IndyCar. “Like I said in (a Cup car) you'd be really tight in (turn) one, like you're off the gas. You'd be tight in (turn) two and then you would have better balance in (turns) three and four,” Larson said. “ This has way more downforce and speed than a Cup car, but the balance of all four corners felt way more similar than a stock car. At one point, Larson accidentally hit a button on the steering wheel that he said prevented the car from moving.
